Ok, are you strapped in? They took real mint-condition electronic drum machines from the ’80s, and recorded them through Neve 1073 preamps onto half inch reels of audio tape on a two channel 1/2″ Ampex tape machine with heavy saturation. By using the kick and snare microphone balance settings in Addictive Drums you can mix between the clean and the saturated signal.
They also added a special Stocktronics RX4000 Plate reverb, and real room ambiance, which you can dial up or down, allowing you to go from raw electronic sounds to large and roomy. The included presets cover electronic styles ranging from eighties pop to house, dubstep, drum & bass and techno.
Basically, it’s a bit like Weird Science… we made the computer stuff come alive, and it’s BEAUTIFUL!
Are you ready to get your geek on? One of the main benefits of being a digital drummer is you don’t need a van to transport all your kit, so this ADPak comes complete with no fewer than five original drum machines from the ’80s, amped up and sounding just as rad as they did back then
Simmons SDS-V – Not all drum machines are just for electronic music. Think Big hair, big sounds, and big hexagonal pads to whack to your heart’s content. This kit was a staple in the ’80s, featuring in hits by everyone from Duran Duran, to Van Halen, to Spandau Ballet, to Prince. Pure class.
LinnDrum – The machine that started it all. Proper old-school cool. This thing has actual wooden sides! Our kit features all fifteen original sounds with a large number of new custom tweaked stroke types.
Roland TR-808 – The machine that changed it all, by allowing you to program beats. Think Afrika Bambaata’s Planet Rock, Run DMC, LL Cool J, basically anything old school. Just add a folded out cardboard box and a vocoder and you’re ready to uprock
Roland TR-909 – The 808s big brother skipped the block party and went out clubbing. This is the original drum sound of House and Techno.
Oberheim DMX – Another classic. Looks like an Atari games console. Sounds fresh to death. This machine was a massive influence on hip hop and big club tracks. Check Chaka Khan “I feel for You” for some classic DMX.
